I was just reading my little 240sx owners manual and these are the times that they say are the best times to shift for the best mpg.

1st to 2nd: 15 mph
2nd to 3rd: 18 mph
3rd to 4th: 30 mph
4th to 5th: 36 mph


Just thought I would let you gas savers know. I have a 1993 240sx SE just incase you guys are wondering what type of owners manual it is.

 

the usual average is 3k rpm for just about every car I can think of

 

Yeah Lowest I will shift at is 2,500 RPM but 3,000 RPM works fine.
Gas is gonna go regardless, I just don't punch it every 3 seconds

 

driving habits will increase or reduce your mpg more than when you shift.


btw, i think you two didn't read the post just the title. forgive me if i'm wrong.

 

your shifts are way to close, might as well go from 1st to 5th. If shift at about 3k. 2.5k on cold days when im too lazy to warm my car up. haha

 

yea i always shift at around 2.7k

 

3k ftw.....6.2k when ballin' out
