daytime running lights messed up all my lights

i took the dtrl's out... and unplugged the bulb, including the housing and all that....

and then ever since then.. my headlights popped up by itself and won't go back down...... the blinker lights, side markers, and the tail lights are always turned on, even when i take the key out.. i have to disconnect the battery for them to turn off..

i put the dtrl's back on, they do work.. but the other lights are always on as well, and the headlights are still always popped up.

i checked the fuses, they're all good... i dunno what's wrong...... and i don't know how to check the relays..... i was told that the relays might be messed up......

how can i fix this? i would like to keep the dtrl's off for the moment, i was told that all i had to do is unplug the bulb and that's that.. and that's all i did, and so i don't know what's wrong.. please help me out.. thanks

theres a box full of relays somewhere under the hood. It should just be a plastic box. Theres prolly 5-10 relays in the box. On the lid of the box there should be labels for what each relay is. The only way to check relays is with a testing device such as one of those lights that you clip one end to a ground, and on the other end theres a thing that looks like a soldering iron, but it has a light on it. You put that end into the relays (there open on top for that reason, to test them) and if the light lights up, its a good relay. BUT DONT FORGET! You gotta check both sides of the relay. If the positive side lights it up, and the other side doesn't, its a bad relay.

They look something like this, this is more of a high end metal one though. The clip on the wire clips to a ground (you can clip it to anything grounded, the motor, the body, wutever) and the the "pen" type side of it you touch to the relays.

you mean the plastic lid that covers the box has things that plug into the top of the relays? If thats what you mean, they're probably there just to keep anything from getting into them. Any way you could post a pic because if thats not what you mean I'm lost lol. All the relays I've seen just kinda look like fuses.

you've been misinformed. The relays are those red things that say "10" on the top.

EDIT: Just to inform you of the way they work. Basically they are like fuses, and if have too much current run through them, they burn up. You see where the wire that runs through them is exposed? Thats where you would test them. Look on the plastic lid to the box, and look for where the relay for what you need is located. Then pop that out, and pop out one of the other ones, and switch them. If your lights work all of a sudden, it was a relay that got messed up. I dont know how it would be a relay though, because if it was, I dont think you'd have any lights at all, but its worth a shot. If it is one of them thats the problem, just go to the auto store and buy a few of them to keep handy. AND NEVER EVER REPLACE ONE THATS RATED HIGHER! If it calls for a 10, do NOT go higher then a 10. If you do that, and they get too much current it'll burn up the wires and could start a fire and take your car straight to the ground in flames.
