Someone needs to do this test properly...with the same brand exhaust...Ex: HKS Hi-power 60mm and 80mm on a KA

There is a Dyno Day at RevTech around my way soon so I'll Dyno My full 3in exhaust, then swap in the 2.5 incher. Only thing is I have a Greddy Header and a 3in. High Flow cat. If that is going to skew the test let me know now so I don't have to spend the money, no more trash talking from me just plain numbers.

For the cost of two HKS exhausts, you could buy another S13.

Mike, I wouldn't bother doing the swap unless its for your own benefit. I'm sure your results would be dismissed because you have other mods.... even though your other mods are common to people who would be upgrading their cat-back.

Well when is rev tech doing there dyno day?
I wouldn't mind runnin head up with you. That way me an you can start a thread on the 2.5" VS 3.0" exhaust.
All I'm going to have is cams, no secondary butterflys, egr block off, intake, Aluminum pulley, coolant bypass, SAFC, advanced timing, and aluminum fly wheel.
Waiting for the CATYLITIC 2.5 and DC sports header should take me a week or 2 to get those parts prepped and ready, plus another week to schedule an appointment with Rebello.
I don't know what mods you exactly have on your ride Mike.
But if it is pretty evenly matched we can do those pulls and do somethin positive with the forums for a change with those results instead of fighting. Do think it sounds pretty fair. If you have more mods I'm not trippin either lets squash the BEEF.

Running two different exhausts on two different cars introduces more variables than it eliminates.

In order for the test to be meaningful at all, it would have to be the two exhausts in question run on the same car. WOuld you lend your pacesetter for the test?

It's to far for me to lend the exhaust system and I constantly drive my car, and my stock exhaust was in shambles when I removed it. I don't have a second exhaust.
Plus I have the s13 not the s14.

Just another thing that occurred to me on the JDM n/a exhausts with the smaller piping.

They're meant for use with an n/a SR20DE, not the larger KA24DE motor that the 240SX got in the US.

The larger displacement may be why the KA responds better to a larger diameter exhaust than most import tuners would expect, since strapping a 3" pipe to the average sub 2.0 liter 4 cylinder will not produce the best results.

You are also forgetting rev, where the sr revs 1000RPM above the KA.

I didn't forget it... but I think it's well established that the oversized tubing, if it hurts at all, will hurt in the lower RPMs.

Okay, they locked my thread so I will just post it here. I got my 3" exhaust installed today and the ***-dyno tells me it did add horsepower. It pulls hard in 2nd gear and 3rd @ 4000-5500 RPM.. Fun fun..

it's just one of those things though... When I got my intake, I noticed power increase just a little, especially when just reving, better throttle response... then a week later I put on 3" exhaust, and felt a difference.. basically, 3" ehaust is going have some gains over stock exhaust, maybe not 14hp but it will be there... especially with intake, maybe a header, bigger TB, ect... as far as the car being completely stock, I wouldn't except much gain, but there's a little..


also, where can I get a 70mm TB that will bolt on? I dunno if there's manufacturers, or if I would grab one from another car?

i think stock and aftermarket mustang TBs work but u gotta mod the throttle linkage/cable thingy
