Is this a good deal? 89 240 Coupe

I have been looking for a coupe and found one yesterday at a local dealer. 89 with 119,000 miles. Everything works except the air. The car is in great shape. Original paint, no rust, no dents. Interior in great shape. Fabric has no tears, burns, etc. I was told it was a one owner car owned by some guy who works at UPS. It appears to have been well taken care of. Asking price is $2200. I could probably talk him down a few hundred. Also is there anything specific I should look at, like recalled items, or known problems with this model?

oh and another trick, kelley blue book it, if its lower take that to them and tell them you will give them that much for the car, (excluding taxes and fees) and see what they say.

Whoa! thats low mileage, good indication that is in good mechanical shape....probably, ... yes check for rust and prior accident history...no bent frames, no rust underneath.....if solid and clean I will give him 2000 dollars....the AC repair is going to run around 1000 or 1500 dollars depending of where you go, if you do it...around 700......the AC compressor get replaced MOST of the time regardless of whats wrong with it and is expensive. If you are really lucky then it might just need refrigerant, but then thats a sign of leakage and contamination so you will end up replacing the compressor sooner or later.....

good luck!

PS. where is this car at??? Im looking for a clean coupe myself....HEHEHE!!!!

Hey man, sounds like a good deal to me. I have two 90 240's and the only problem I had with one of them is the heatsheild on the stock headers somehow got pushed up against the header and it made the annoying rattling noise but that was an easy fix. Other than that its been a great ride.
good luck
