hey guys, suspension problem??? help please!

so i have a 1995 240sx se, i just replaced the tension rods on both sides because the old ones were visibly worn out. after the new ones were in and i took her for a test drive there seems to be some kind of weird "thud" noise whenever i hit the brakes going forward, it doesn't do it in reverse. the noise seems to be coming from the front driver side wheel area (although it could be on passenger side also, not totally sure). the thud only happens when i first apply the brakes, its not a continuous noise, and it does happen EVERY time i first apply the brakes, i.e. if i hit the brakes on and off the noise repeats itself every time i touch the brakes.

so, any ideas???? i have a race this weekend and im hoping to have her ready for that.

ya, i tightened everything, there are only 3 bolts on each tension rod, 1 in the head and 2 in the tail, and i made sure that all 3 in each rod were tightened well.

yea make sure that the bottom two are tight dude bro... i had a nut come off on mine while drifting.. and yes you will get a forward motion after braking. also make sure the forward section of the tension rod rack is tight

well, as surprised as i am to say it, ya the bolts needed to be tightened. they were pretty tight to begin with, and i didn't want to over tighten them or strip any nuts, but after reading the replies from you everyone here, i went back and torque'd the hell out of them, tightened as hard as i could, and that fixed the problem. huh, sounds weird to me for the sounds i was hearing, but it worked!
