Looking for info on 92'-94' 240SX
I have always liked these cars, and now i'm considering buying one. My budget would be $7-8K Canadian, which would probably get me a 93' with decent mileage. First I just wanted to know some things before searching for one. I heard that a lot of Canadian 240's were equipped with HICAS and LSD standard. Is this true? How can you tell if a 240 your looking at has them? From the checking the VIN? Do the rear seats fold down in the hatch version? Does the DOHC 2.4 use a timing chain? I remember the old Nissan p/u we had here at work. It had the SOHC 2.4 but had a timing chain. Were the heads up display an option, or did they come standard? Whats the difference between the SE and LE versions?
Thanks for any info!

As far as I know all the canadian 240s came with VLSD. And the KA24DE uses a timing chain. I have a 92 240 and it has a HUD. I think most of the SEs came with the HUD and a digital speedo. The SEs also had the factory sway bars. The LE is a SE + some goodies like all leather ... Hope it helps
The base models also came with sway bars. and the years you should be looking for is 91-93, 94 was a automatic convertible only. SE's came with HUD as an option, and most do not have it. Also HICAS is very limited and only came as an option also. ABS too was an option, and all Canadian 240's have VLSD (luck bastards

Well good luck in the search.

All S13's got front and rear sways (S13 - 1989-1994 240SX)
The SE's had some power options as standard, sunroof, upgraded stereo, etc.
Canadian car's got the VLSD, but SuperHICAS is not standard. I only know of one instance of a SuperHICAS coupe, other than that it was an option found only on the Hatchback.
In order to get the SuperHICAS, you had to get an SE, add the handling package (ABS, wider tires - maybe stiffer springs) and then select the SuperHICAS option on top of that. Probably also available on the LE, since the LE was a step above the SE.
The HUD was only available in the coupe. (My understanding, open to contradiction).
The rear seats of the hatch fold down as 1 unit. The LE had a 50/50 split rear seatback.
