If you car cannont pass smog in cali, they take a car, run it on the machine, take the scanner and scan the reg on your car...run the other car...use those results as your results, break into the video box, rewind the tape with a magnet, and record your car...the car is supoosed to match up with the car tested, but there are ways to lie about it, and get away with it.

the sniffer in NY isnt the same in cali, we dont have smog. we do have visual inspection.
