hey, i just got one of those nismo radiater caps and as I was taking off the old cap coolant went everywhere. Right went i unscrewed the cap, it just sprayed everywhere. Ill probably need to put more back in but im not sure if I want to start my car. Is coolant flammable?

 

Was the car hot when you opened the cap? That should be the only way it would've sprayed everywhere.

 

Flammable? No.

Was the motor still hot when you did this? If it was cold, it shouldn't have done more than bubbl a little, then settle down.

Probably a good thing you're replacing the cap. check to see if your overflow tank has coolant in it, if not, add some there with the cap off and make sure it runs out into the radiator. Fill the radiator to the bottom of the neck and put the cap back on.

Then fill the overflow tank right to the "cold" line. Keep an eye on it to see if it changes alot over the next few days...

the engine was alittle warm, I started the car up and then moved it in my garage then shut it off.

 

its been about an hour since the coolant sprayed all over and I went back to my car and my engine isnt warm at all and I opened the cap and it stil is coming out.

 

wait til morning
