Man I got the same problem with my 97', mine went out while spinning the tires, I shifted to 2nd and *poof* they went out. I havent figured out the problem, it was none of my fuses, the only other thing I can think to do is look for a short in the column somewhere. I have no idea, I'm no mechanic, but if NEbody knows what to do let me know also.

I've also got no dash lights in my '89 fastback. Had the dealer check the fuses as part of an initial inspection, and they said fuses aren't it in my case. This is high on my to-fix list because I'm about to start working 2nd shift. Going to look for shorts and etc.

Keep posting what you find out here. Maybe one of us can help another find the right answer.

here are the 4 problems that can occur with the dash light issue...
1.) Relay to dash cluster/AC console is out. Relays are electrical switches if you didn't know, usually found in the relay box of the engine bay.
2.) Fuse is out/or short in the hot and/or ground. "black" wire more than likely the ground "if the fuse isn't burn't out". (Quick way to eliminate following the hot wire).
3.) Usually associated with the digital hud (89-94 s13's) bad capacitor and/or fried connection from ecu to the speedo.
4.) For 89-98 s13's and s14's speedo has a fried sauder on the board you will see a black mark on the sauder even including resistors to sauder connections if so resauder and/or new resistors, or go to Nissan and order the new board it is under $50 bucks but a ***** to FIX.

So if you have 89-94 and your dash lights don't work, most lickely it is a capacitor problem. If you have digital speedo that shouldn't work as well, but the tech should work. I have a detail fix for this issue. Capacitor cost is about .25 cents and you will need 1uF 50V polarized capacitor.

ok heres the real scoop, teh dash lights went out, so did my corner lamps and my rear taillights. The little lights in the dash work such as the highbeams, seatbelt lights etc. the guages work, or rather work like they have before (not very well). My car is a 95 SE with a Ka if you were wondering.

something like this happend to me too, i just said screw it and recplaced all the fuses just to be on the safe side, the little pannel you take off in order to access the fuses also has what and how strong a fuse you need . my advice is replace them all, when i heard that weird noise, it ended up killing all my fuses.
