So who does their own work
After reading over a few boards I have started to notice a trend. Not that many people do their own work on their cars anymore. They all talk a good game about mods that they have done to their cars but eventually they say that "X" shop did it or that they had a friend do it. Since when did paying somebody else to do the work count as you doing the mod? The way I've always understood it in order to say you've done it then you would have had to be the one to actually do the work and not just the one paying for it. Otherwise why don't they say I had a certain mod done since that at least gives the notion that they personally didn't do it. So come on now let's be honest who actually does their own work?

I wish I could do my own work. I do not have the skill or ability. But all of my friends are skilled in the automotive arts.
I knew it was a bad ideal not to take auto mechanics in high school. I don't think they covered forced induction thou.

I'm with dytopia here..it all depends on the task. I installed my S-AFC and exhaust myself. Gauges are not a problem either. But as far as installing a whole turbo kit or tranny work I would either want help from someone who has done it several times or have a VERY reputable shop do the work.

Im not a mitsu buff, It is a job to me and I like the people I work for/with. I am a nissan enthusiast and I worked for nissan for a while, but the shop I worked for was full of *******s and run by *******s. We were on a team system and all our hours were divided up equally. So if I earned ten hours and everyone else earned 5 or 6, I basically made their paychecks bigger for no reason at all and mine smaller. Ive been at mitsu for a little over a month now and already they are sending me to school. If you know anything about dealerships, this is unheard of. Usually you have to be there at least a year before you are eligible for schooling. I am off to NJ for the next three days for school and I dont have to pay for ****. Gas, rooming, food, and 8 hours a day pay.
