S13 E-Brake Questions: How does it work?

Just like the title says, how do the emergency brakes work on a S13? On my WRX, the e-brake is drum based. So fixing it is a bit of a pain. What is the e-brake mechanism on a 240? Is it related to the rear brake system, or a standalone drum like on my Subaru?

The e-brake in the S13 I just picked up, has plenty of tension, but no matter how hard I pull, the car does not slow at all. I'm trying to get a better understanding on how the system works so I can correctly diagnose the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its not drum ... it uses the disc pads , like a paralel system to the normal brake mecahnism ,

from what i can see theres a second piston inside the caliper , presses oil in the big braking piston ... if it dosent worth crap braking , change discs , oil , pads , rebind the wires ? i duno , mine didnt worked either , and since i changed my pads disc , cables , it brakes like hell!!!

Yeah, I noticed that after I changed out the pads, rotors and lines. I'll let you know once I finish my suspension work.

they need to be adjusted, there should be a 10mm or 12mm nut in the hole on the bottom of the e brake cover

LMAO.... E-Brake = cable driven, and theres a spot where it connects to the caliper that makes the caliper work like normal except without brakes being applied.

Not sure about S13's, but my rear is disc, and the problem that you are having is most likely either caused by the pads/rotors, or your cable is just stretched (worn out)
