spun bearing. fix it or just save for swap?
Hello people,
i'm new to the forum and recently bought a 90 fastback w/168000 for $400 with what i think may be a bad rod bearing. (loud knocking increases the more i rev it CLACK! CLACK!)The thing is i've talked to some people and they say to just fix the one bearing along with the rod and wristpin, but then some people say just to fix the bearing. I did a compression test and it came out with 170-145-130-155.
I surprisingly drove the car home from where i bought it. and it was overheating. THe next day off i get i want to take the pan off, but want to know if i can do so without taking the motor out and what are the varying prices people have spent to fix rod bearings themselves and what parts they've had to usually replace. i've already saved 500 for a swap fund and am wondering if i shouldnt waste any cash on the KA.
