Take it to Autozone & they can remove it( take off the nut & the pully should come right off). Or if you have any air tools you can do it in the garage. All you need to do is hold onto the pully & the bolt will come right off. It's only about 60 ft lbs, if that.

You cant really do it with hand tools.

awww crap... hmm thanks for the info. Don't suppose anybody knows how long the car will run if I use a trickle charger to charge up the battery? The damn things been sitting dead on my driveway for a month at this point...

Incidentally, any advice on installing the alternator belt? I was having some trouble getting the belt around the crank pulley and alt pulley. So of course my cave man instincts told me to try and budge the alt pulley with a metal object and a hammer... 'nuff said.

I've decided to just remove the alternator altogether and bring it to somebody w/a gun. Would you guys recommend removing the alternator from the top or bottom?

why did you not adjust the tension of the alternator??

its just a 14mm screw with a 12mm nut.

the alternator has the tensioner built in... looser that, drop the alt and install the belt... then pull it tight, bolt down. Trickle chargers, i usually leave mine on overnight and thats plenty
