So are you just trying to figure out if your car is OBDI or OBDII?

sort of im really trying to find out a reader so i can reset the check engine light and see what the thing is telling me.ive tried the whole disconect the battery thing but no luck.instead of resetting it i would like to know why its on. also does any one know the effect (pros and cons) of removing the engine fan. not the electric one. i live in a mild climate if that has any play on it. or do you recomend maybe a flex lite.thanks this is the greatest forum on earth.

That should help you with the ECU and getting the codes. If your car is 1993 it is OBDI, as for the fans, get some electric fans (flex-a-lite, Altima fans, Taurus SHO fans) and take off the engine fan.
