Differences between 92 ka's vs. 97 ka's

heys guys i'll just make this short and sweet i just need to know if there are any differences at all between the new and old ka24des cause i have an old de i wanna rebuild and put it in a 97 240 possibly .. because i know the new ones are obd II and old ones are I so i wasn't sure if the motors were exactly the same .... thanks for any input guys -Erik

swirl valves in the runners.
coolant line through the throttle body. cams.
umm cant think of anything else

Yeah, i've heard of people doing that. This guy my buddy knows put a 98 motor in his 92 and he says it's wayy faster than the origional 92 motor. I would like to know why this is as well.

Its the same amount of power and everything. It's just your going from a 14 year old engine to an 8 year old engine. The engine from the 1998 will usually be in way better shape if it was taking care of, thus giving you the illusion that it has more power.

you have to remeber if you have to smog it they will not pass you you cant put an older motor into a newer car also if you put the cams of a 92 into you new de you should make more power so i have heard

depends on the state, check your dmv laws concerning this. any s13 dohc cam will do actually, preferably the exhaust tho
