About a week and a half ago I got a Magnaflow catback w/2.25 piping. The sound of this exhaust is really amazing. (price was even better). I noticed a slight increase in horsepower, but what has caught my attention more than anything is....it seems my engine has grown louder after I put the exhaust on and took the AIV out. Now I know some of you are going to say that I didn't plug the lines good enough. Thats not the case. I capped those lines as good as it gets. I went all the way down to the exhaust downpie and took care of it there so you cant see it. It's not making the "lawnmower" sound as they do when you dont plug the vac lines good.
The engine sounds great....its just louder to me.

I know...I'm losin it.

 

sometimes you gotta let the new muffler and piping "break in" over a few miles. Thats when you get that weird "hot metal" smell. I don't know if this is the right answer but from my experience it would be my first guess at what's happening to you

 

ahh, good choice on the magnaflow! don't you like it! I knew you would, heh.

Mine was like that too, it's the higher flow of fumes leaving the car, you'll get used to it.

Yeah no doubt Magnaflow scored major points with me. The sound is awesome. Price is awesome. Look is awesome. And....my car is awesome!!

I was telling everyone they make good exhausts! Wait for a month, and it'll get a little louder, I love starting my 240 once a week and hearing that exhaust roar!
