Few KA questions

I would like to do some basic tune up procedures on my single cam. I bought a Chilton's manual to help me out, but i couldn't find a few things.

1) What is the bolt removal sequenece the SOHC valve cover?
2) Which way to spin the distributor to advance the timing? How much can i safely advance? Whats stock timing?

I can't explain 1 because you need the FSM. You can down load it from www.zeroyon.com/ . It is hard to explain the sequence to bolts and it would literally be over 3 paragraphs long........
Number 2 is very simple. Stock timing is set at 15BTDC on all single over head cam KA's, that includes the sohc KA's produced for the frontier line of trucks until it's final production in 1992.
You can only advance up to 8 degress. After that the engine begins to lose power, plugs and engine temp run too hot for detonation"pre ignition".
Up to 4 degress in advancement you can use platinum spark plugs, and use 91octane...... Total in advancement from the distributor will now be set at19 BTDC.
Advancing an additional 4 degress for a total of 23 BTDC you will need to use iridium spark plugs, and use 96 octane "if available other than Cali".
Here is the advancement chart that I am leaving you it explains power output to the temprature increase of the plugs and chamber.......

Thank you for you help Vinnie. I've been looking for the FSM forever. I'm going to advance my timing 2-4 degrees, should the power be noticeable?

At 4 Degress it is a kick in da butt, at 8 degress it's like a kick in the face...........
Believe me you will feel a shift in Top End power, it drops a wee bit of Torque, but after all the KAE produces alot of torque to begin with, wait till you hit the Freeway you will know what I am talking about, I think you will like the results.......

Cape, thanks for your concern, but the question is in regards to a single cam, not a dual cam. I've been through all of Raine's guides, they are excellent write ups.

Vinnie, do you know which part of the online FSM i can find the bolt sequence, there are about 30 adobe files to search through
