gains from coolant bypass

I now have a 1989 240sx fastback and I was reading about some mods for the KA engine and I was wondering what sort of gains I could expect from bypassing the coolant from the throttle body?

+10whp at least.

no j/k it's a worth doing mod but with minimal gains. the egr block off will yield better gains but even then don't expect too much.

exhaust gas return. both will help in throttle response mostly, but not much if any in hp gain.

egr block off will cause your engine to run rich and will result in some hp gains.

OK, I plan on doing the coolant bypass, but about the egr block off, where is this tube that needs to be blocked? Do you think you could take a picture of the engine with a little arrow pointing it out?

I'd say 1 HP across the RPM range to increase acceleration. That it in a nut shell.

OK so this morning I bypassed the coolant and I installed a cone filter. I seemed to feel a gain in horsepower as I took it for a test drive, now I am not sure if that is just wishful thinking, but I think it did something. But I have to ask, why does it do anything? What all does this operation affect and why does it do anything?

Intake charge stays cooler. Coolant is used to heat the TB when it's cold outside so that the butterfly wont stick when it's below freezing outside.
