Installed E60 MAF today.

I figured what the hell. I got it for free, so why not try it.. right.

Wiring was stupidly simple. I cut the stock connector plastic, turned the connector 180 degrees & plugged it in.(white-white, black-black, black/white-red. All it required was to flip the plug no rewire needed).

Haven't driven it yet. But it starts & idles great. Dead revs wonderful. ALOT better then the stock MAF.
Mind you like I said I havent driven it yet(dont drive it at night yet), but just wanted to start this thread on this "seemingly simple" modification.
Alot of people do it to turbo engines, but I haven't read anywhere where they do it to an NA.... let alone an "E". I am sure many will say it is not needed, but I can tell immediately, upon INITIAL startup..which it did without hesitation mind you. That it seems like a great mod. The engine does run a but rich, but even when rev'ved it doesn't blow black smoke. Plugs are fine so far.
I will update tomorrow when I can actually drive the car. Will have some pics of it installed & a vid of the engine running & such.

Here are some pic comparisons of old & new MAF

if you can get it to work w/o the need of a safc i'd like to know. every other maf i've seen used needed one to keep the engine from running too rich.

So far so good. I just went & started the car. It fired right up. I drove it around the parking lot(never out of first gear). But it never stalled, sputtered or spit. I do however have to lower the idle, it is up to about 1100 right now.

Also, if you found anyone running one on a NA KA24 please link me to a thread. I have been searching & cannot find anything. Everything has had to do with turbo KA's, SR's or CA's...nothing on a NA KA24. But like I said. The stock plug is 3 wire, this is 3 wire also. SR's & CA(IIRC SR's) are a different setup all together using a 5wire setup...PLUS they are turbo's so a S-AFC is mandatory when doing this. On the first(or first week of March) I am going to see if I can get some Dyno time in, to test both the stock MAF & the E60.

I will post more tomorrow.

E60 is from the RB25, RB20, newer maxima, Infinity J30 & I30, and an assload of other cars.
Go to google.com & type in the part number I took a photo of.

The E60 is a much better maf then the N60. It is newer & much more user friendly. Not many has heard of it.

i'm not 100% sure but i believe it's cheaper to due to it's lack of popularity. (used anyways)

Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread. I have had an assload of stuff going on with the car(mostly good, little bad).
Although the car ran well with the MAF, I took it off. It ran slightly rich while cruising, plus no one here had a proper coupler for it so I had a constant air leak from the intake. I didn't feel like dealing with anymore issues then what I have so I took it off, for now. Once I get the clutch, trans mount & a few other things taken care of I will put it back on, but for right now the car is still up on stands.

Here is a short clip of the car starting & idling. I shut it off because the damn car next to me had the alarm going off all the time & people were getting pissed. So I just started it real quick to get a vid clip of it running.

I guess the youtube thingyy on the site doesnt work??

I have my N60 wired up and it made a huge difference in the rev range.
Now I make peak power at 6500RPM rather than at 5800RPM.
Let me know how that E60 will work out for you. I couldn't find anything in the SAFC book to use the E60 to convert the voltage for some leaner A/Fr's. But since it is known that it comes from the RB20 and 25's I can convert that voltage over. The N60 however has a slight lean spot when you tune it to 4in and 5 out on the SAFC to convert the voltage over to what teh old G60 use to be, added a little bit of fuel and adjusted throttle correction in the hi throttle to 39%, problem solved.
