I just want to make sure that I have removed the right parts to increase the air flow a little.

i was wondering the same thing at first about one part...there is a piece that goes to the front of your car that might be able to direct colder air into the engine bay and i pondered re-attatching it....but all in all its not going to make much of a difference right now...its when you are making lots of power that the difference is worth the extra effort. just buy an AEM intake....INJEN is nice too if you have the money but...where im from the AEM was half the price of the INJEN. it was also only a short ram...it was listed that cold air is not available on our cars...(S14s at least)

I was thinking of just getting a drop in K&N filter. I would hate to get water in my engine and it rains here ALOT.

with a short ram intake the risk is not as bad...i live in canada and have had no problems over this winter

All you took out was the resonator pipe. Lol, cut the bottom of the air box if you want better air flow. Here, check my thread out and see what I did.

even with a short ram it won't get wet if it rains (unless you drive in a lake)... and you could technically leave that little "ram air" piece (the center part in your picture)

raine.....do you think that "ram air" pieace would have any effect on performance??

well it's there to get air to the filter. You can be all hardcore and say "it's extra weight - dump it!" but it's not even significant weight compared to heavier things. Or you can just leave it and maybe it'll serve it's purpose still.

Either way, it's not like you're gonna feel your *** in the seat harder when you floor it with or without the plastic piece.
