My friend just swapped in a rebuilt KA24E into his 1989 240SX hatch. The problem is that when you accelerate at wide open throttle it only rev's out to 5500 rpm and then all power dies off and the rev's start falling back even though you hold the pedal down. But if you hold the pedal about 3/4 throttle, it rev's all the way to redline. When the power dies off at WOT it feels almost like you hit a speed limiter, but it does it in every gear. Also, when the power dies off, it still has fuel pressure. We checked timing, TPS, cap, rotor, plugs, wires. There is no check engine light, and otherwise runs great. I was also put on a scanner and did not through any codes. If any of you have ever heard of this or had it happen to you, let me know. Any help would be great, thanks.

 

I had the same problem... I replaced the air regulator(the unit by the airfilter) and the problem just went away!!! If you know anything about tapping valves on the same engine could you reply to me??
