a lil smokey

hello
i just got a 92 240sx not to long ago
it came wit a custom made exhaust
piping straight from the downpipe
the catalytic converter was neglected

would this cause my car to run a lil rich and a lil smokey

it happens mostly at low rpms and pullin off u see the smoke

sound more like valves to me... the exhaust should not cause smoke... it should just push it out the tail pipe... i would suggest valves and seals first...

if you dont have the tools to do it yourself then it can be... get a manual for it and read befor you even think of doing it...

is it the valves or valve seals?
how much u think it will cost to fix it
i just got the car if it costs too much i will sell it

smoke comes from bad valve guides and seals... if the valves are not bad then you can reuse them... the valve guides are 2.50 in general... but you should not have to pay ny more than that per guide...

i get a little whitish bluish smoke, but it's because i need a new valve cover gasket

you get white blue smoke because you need a new valve cover gasket??? that would only be under the hood not comming out the exhaust pipe... and if you have a bad valve cover gasket why not fix it??? or do you like the smoke look???

portion. what color is the smoke that comes out your exhaust? Most likely its not just because you have a custom exhaust.

i am losin oil too so i am burnin oil

i am gonna do a compression test tomorrow to see wat i can come up with.

make sure its not rings or nothin
hopin its jes the seals or something
but thing is i aint know how to fix it so i am relying on a good shop i go to to hook me up

yeah a leaky gasket is causing my engine to burn oil. And i also found out that i dont have a gasket connecting my cat and pipe. So i got one but im not puttin it in till tuesday along with wit my vc gasket.

so u have smoke coming from ur engine ??
