New 98 240sx...intake question?

Just purchased a 1998 40sx with 66,000 miles about a week ago.
It has the factory intake piping but with at adapter to a regular cone filter. My problem or question is that the MAF plug has no place to go and is just sitting in the fender well beneath the air filter, doing absoluting nothing. Would this effect performance or engine effiency at all?? I plan on getting a new intake preety soon. opinions on which is better, the AEM short ram or the Injen short ram with cold air extension.

Thanks

Well I hope its not your MAF plus or else ur car wouldnt be running by now, lol. It would keep shutting ur car off, lol. That is a temp sensor, Mainly for just computer info to let it know the temp of the air coming. Many will argue that it reads the amount of air, but that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Head mechanic at the nissan dealership also told me it was a temp sensor. Also if you look at it closly, its solid plastic. I have a 98 as well, in now way does it effect performance on my car.

Best ive scene and best HP improvement. Move ur batterty to the trunk. Cut away a hole in the try and have a custom right side mount CIA installs. IT will cost you half the money and save u room, gain u more power. Any exhuast shop should be able to do this. Slap a K&N filter on it and BAM ur good to go. Www.**********/atlanta some guys onthere have it to. Saves you 3 ft. of piping any other intake will give you.
