i got my 91 engine pulled out and got a 95 j spec off of a friend all i used of the j spec was the block pistons con rod and crank i used all of the 91 parts to make it work. but the problem lies in starting the engine cranks but will not start its correctly in time im getting spark and fuel any bit of help would be great

if the timing is right and you have spark and fuel then it should start... might run like **** but it would at least start... go back and recheck your timing... not just at te distributor but the cam and main timing chain...
i have talked to a lot of people here on the boards who say the timing is right but when i asked them how they did it they tell the steps they went through and was not done right so there is no way to be sure if the timing is right or not...
when installing timing chains and sets there is a certain way it should be done to make sure the timing chains are all lined up...
the fsm instructs you to do all timing with the front covers off of the motor... a lot of people put the front cover and oil pan on befor they put on the head and set the main timing chain and the ideler gear... this is an incorrect way to do it... if the timing chain drops down inbetween the front cover and the block it can actually skip teeth on the lower chain sprocket... this will in turn change the way the ideler gear sits and in turn change the timing on the motor... if you installed the front cover first then the head and did the timing then i would suggest you pull the motor back out remove the oil pan front distributor and the front covers... reset the timing chains and gears and try it again...
if you follow the fsm exactly as it says the timing should come out every time... if you dont follow the manual then there is no telling what you will end up with if the chain moves on the lower gear...
