Prepairing for an engine rebuild on a KA24de

I am about to do a complete overhaul/rebuid on my KA24de. Since the cyclinder walls are thin is it possible to drop "wet" or "dry" sleeve's into the block. I am looking to retain the original pistons. Is this possible and has any one done it?
