Strange revving issue

This is going to be a little difficult to explain, but I'll do my best...

I have a '95 240SX SE. When I rev my engine abruptly from idle (about 800 or 900 RPM), everything shutters and shakes for a second. But, if I can rev apruptly from anything above about 1,500-or-so RPMs and it responds just fine. If I rev the engine more smoothly (not slowly, but not abruptly either) from idle, I don't get any of this shuttering.

Is this normal?

So far I've...

- I checked and topped up all of the fluids as necessary
- changed oil and oil filter
- changed spark plugs
- changed air filter

how long have you owned it?
I just got it about a week ago. Other than this, it's been running great. I've had no unexpected problems and I've already put nearly 1000 KMs on it.

ever cleaned out the maf before?
No.

got a good clutch?
The clutch is on it's last leg, it's probably never been replaced before (the car has 171,000 KMs).

running good fuel??
Octane 91.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably have to take it to a garage to find out what it is, because I'm no mechanic. I was just wondering if, perhaps, this was a common issue for which the remedy is known (I also figured that searching the forums for this problem would be difficult).

I showed this to my dad who suggested that it could be the fuel injection timing could be off. Does this sound accurate?

Guys thats def a great idea i did this no lie to my car about 2 weeks ago, but its basically this "miracle mechanic in a can" that can added to clean your fuel system, oil system, and you can also clean out your intake and some what exhaust system by vacuum bleeding with a hose in the can hooked to a (after thorttle plates) vacuum source ... and hold the throttle to keep it running during this step... it will smoke for a while after this procdure, but just drive the car about 3 miles and it will go away.. but yes SEAFOAM i def. like this stuff hope this helps with everthing...!!
