i kinda went through that stage but snapped right out of if when the movie (the fast and the furious) was over. it's amazing what kind of crap you actually think is cool if the masses have them also. fortunately i never bought into it.

I think it depends who you are around when you get into cars... i got into it kinda by myself.. so i didn't have a sense of what was right or wrong.. but luckily i was awesome at gathering info on my own.. so i began to put the money where it mattered.. and also i developed a taste of whats cool.. many people cars are like their personalities.. im pretty laid back cool guy.. so my car kinda mirrors me.

It's definately not beyond hope. For 5 grand I would jump on it. And I'm guilty of having those lights under the dash, but its the most tasteful rice you will ever see.

to an extent yes one will make decisions based on personal feelings and the input of those around you. however were in not for the fact that masses are lead by few there would be no such thing as marketing. guys in suits decide what's "cool" and push it like it's a must have item. be it shoes, cars, beer, phones, or even a horrendous piece of metal mounted on your truck.

i've steered clear of just about anything that is more or less just for looks.

my first car was a 1988 pontiac firebird GTA with a 350 in it that car had so much torque my neck used to get tired from just driving it lol. well atleast that car made me learn first hand rwd > fwd as my next car was a honda

For 5 grand, would talk him down to 4, give him 3500 and use that other 1500 to buy a new trunk, register it and insure it.
