To tell u the truth, u can keep A/C on RB swap. We jus dont keep it cuz both RB swaps we've done, either customer didnt want it or in our case, we dont need it cuz its our next Formula D car (driver will be Conrad Greunwald). But to answer ur question, yes u can keep it.

you can also keep the power steering. i had both a/c and power steering on my 95 rb25 240sx. i had to get a custom power steering line made on mine though.

I agree, its actually very easy to keep the A/C I had about 2 1/2" added on the one line and just reused the KA compressor. I did that awhile ago and thought I was the only one, turns out someone else had the same idea, cool.

This is to everyone that has already done an RB swap.

One of my main concerns as I get ready to do mine is if something goes bad in the engine...lets just say the water pump breaks. Where do you guys find replacement parts for the little things? How hard is it to find replacements? I know the SR is easy to get parts since it basically coincides with the US SR20DE. I am definately doing the RB20 swap but for future referance I just want to know if this is a major problem for anyone that has already doen it. Thanks guys.

Powersteering

I have a rb 20 swap in my 90 model 240. The main problem that im encountering is where to find a good set of electric fans and how I am going to mount them with the space that i am offered. There is probably a good 3" gap between the radiator and motor but the powersteering line is presenting a huge problem. Facing the car the line runs from the steering pully towards the left back across the motor and then underneath to the front end. I guess that the best thing to do would be to have new lines made so that a fan would be easily mounted. But any input on the subject would be much apprieciated. Thanks

hello all, i have read this thread and need some help so pardon me if i ask questions to which exists answers.... I have a 96 240 and want a skyline really bad! Is it more cost effective to just buy one (import) or just to do some body work and engine swap. I def want a GT-R. I kno rb20 is cheap and easy, but is the cost of the Rb26 really worth it? and where would parts be? thanx for the help!

Ok, first off... DOT currently does not allow Motorex to import any skylines at all, and if you were in the process of importing one, Im very sorry to say, but your skyline will not be allowed to complete legalization due to Motorex's inability to follow federal guidelines. So at this point in time, DOT has made it official that no more skylines are to be imported and those who are currently on the streets will be subject to federal inspection and possible confiscation. You may thank Motorex and all these fronters who claim they can import skylines into the US (but they really cant cause they dont have federal paper work to do so) for screwing us in the long run.

Now, you can run an RB26 in your S14, but rear wheel drive only. The front axels from the GTR will not fit in any 240. So if you want the baddest RB block, you need to find and RB25 tranny (bolts right up). A 26 swap is from my point of view, the most difficult swap of all RB swaps. But if you want GTR power, this is your route.

Look wise, to be very honest, you can do body conversions to replicate a skyline, but it is costly. Bomex has recently created an S14 to R34 front and rear wide body conversion, but you WILL need to have an experienced custom body shop to install this particular kit. And do not trust the kit they are selling on ebay, its a copy cat version of the bomex kit and it absolutely DOES NOT FIT. One of my guys in Fullerton gave the car and kit back to the customer cause the kit wasn't going to fit without major mods to both car and kit.

If your looking for cost effectiveness, find a NEO RB25 (which is pretty cheap, and power wise is rated at 280 hp). And then find yourself a nice body kit for your S14 and be happy. Im banking you spent approx 5K for the car, and then if your going NEO RB swap w/ professional shop install... about another 5K, and then body wrk plus kit and paint... approx another 5K for kik *** job... Your in about 15K give or take, not including brake and suspension (which should be your first focal point in any car project) seatbelt harness, seats, rims and tires, electronic equipment (i.e. engine management, turbo timer, boost controller, etc.)... list goes on and on. so all together a basic project will run about 20K or so STARTING.

But you can look at importing (when it was legal), a GTST R33 Skyline would run at least 30K bone stock. GTR R33 would ream ur bunghole at a Motorex price tag of 50K and up bone stock. Cheapest R34 Ive seen from them was about 80K, and R34's technically were illegal to import from the beginning.

Overall, Id build ur S14 chassis (brakes, suspension, chassis re-enforcement) and then do an RB swap and electronic components and rims and tires. You'd have a kik *** beast for under 30K vs bone stock rwd only R33 GTST for 30K starting.

wow...thank you very much. highly informative and enlightening. For sure i will be upgrading "control" of the car first before any engine mods. I found an Rb26dett with an rb25 tranny, but i can't recall the price. As for the body, im just gonna leave my R33 front end on and that's it, power>body work. I live in the houston area and silvia works is not too far off so that's where i'll most likely be getting the engine. The price tag u quoted by the way is correct and came at somewhat of a shock, but put it into perspective that this will be taking me reasonable amount of time.

once again thanx for everything

Not a problem... If you have any questions or need anything answered, hit up www.MOTDYN.com and email the staff there. I've been associated with Motorsport Dynamics for 2 years now and they're the only ppl with enough back ground in the industry to tell you exactly what you can and cannot do. And not to mention what your $ can really do for you, they keep everything in the perspective of reality. Thats why I like em...
