If they are 300zx rears, they wont fit. Forgot which frame you need to use to get it to fit.

As for axels, crap I forget also... Sorry, I busted my head open working on Calvin Wan's car this week... cant think straight... and Im suppose to be out at formula D helping these guys!

Get a mount kit, easier than swapping crossmembers, just usually costs more. Please search around the forums, there is tons of info on these swaps and places to buy mount kits if thats what your looking for.

sorry guys have not had a chance to read the whole forum, but i do have a question. i have a 180sx with a rb25t in it, my problem is that the rb20 gearbox keeps blowing, the r33 box is way too big to fit in. with the 300zx box id just like to know what the size and strength difference is and what mods id have to do to fit it in, compared to getting another rb20 box. thanks. and if any one wants any pics of the conversion just give me a yell on jebac_inc@hotmail.com

RB20 tranny? why are you not reusing the 25 tranny? That will hold up even against a 26 w/ 500+ hp (and yes we've proven it with our car). Find another 25 tranny.

the deal is i paid a place to fit the whole package in, they used a rb20 gearbox in the first place. when the first gearbox went on me, i bought a 25 turbo box and every place i went to told me that i have to modify the the floor pan to fit it in, because there wasnt enough clearance. to keep the cars engineers certificate and to keep it registered that cant be done (pain in the a** australian rules).got any suggestions or info that i might not know about? sorry about the silly questions but im struggling. thanks.

got a few questions,1st) is it legal to run a skyline engine?can we get busted for it? 2nd) how much hp/tq does the rb20 make? 3rd) what happens if some of the small stuff goes out (water pump, oil pump, anything that would require replaceing) is there any cars that are already available to us that could swap parts for? i mean,it would suck if we ran rb engines and everytime something went out, have to order and wait 2 weeks to get it (not sure of shipping time but 2 weeks sounded good, lol). i have a 1990 240 and am really thinking about a rb20 swap,i would go for sr20 but i want the extra tq,i wanna drag it or else i would just use the sr20,my funds are pritty limited so i can't go rb25 wish i could, lol don't we all, lol. but if u guys could help me out on the small stuff it would me muchly appreciated, thanx in advance.....

Depending on what set-up you ran with to mount the 25 in place, all you really need is a custom tranny mount and drive shaft. No chassis modification needed.

1.) No it is not legal to use any Skyline motor in the US due to DOT and EPA regulations.
2.) RB20 makes about the same amount of power the SR20 (from the S14? S15?) but the RB20 has a little more torque.
3.) Anything goes out, you need to find an import tuning shop to order the parts from Japan. Other than Import tuning shops, some Nissan dealers across the nation will order the parts, but not recommended as they will bend you over the counter. And due to the age of the RB20, there is not much of an aftermarket support for it. I'd recommend the SR or RB25. But if you want to be legal about your swap, find a US spec 2JZ (good luck on that) or drop an LS1.

I highly recommend the LS1 over RB, base power is about 280 hp give or take, and the engine and T56 6 speed tranny is almost 200 lbs lighter than the KA alone. Go with the lighter engine that makes the same amount of power. Remember, dropping 10 lbs out of a car is better than gaining 1 hp.

thanx, call me crazy but what motor is the LS1 (cylinder wise)? or should i ask what car does it come in?im not all that much educated in this field,i know the basics and i know what im looking for but after that im still a little lost. i wanna build my 240 for drag racing, other then the average drifter,i wanna learn to drift, but don't wanna devote to it,just something i wanna learn, drag racing is what im all about. so,in that since, what engine would u recomend for my 240 to give me more power while still being legal, lol?thanx in advance.....

The LS1 motor is the 5.7 litre V8 from the GM Camaros, Vettes, GTO and Firebirds. Super light weight motor, with A LOT of power potential. We all know the concept, drop weight at the same time increase power. What better way to do so by swapping a lighter engine with more power than most motors you can drop into this car? I've seen LS1 motors drop out mad power. How simple can it be? My friend Todd Ho has an LS1 in his FC RX-7, his first mods were headers and under pulley. That alone laid out 298 hp at the wheels (nice huh?) and remember the block is still untouched. Drop an LS6 (corvette motor, same displacement, way more power) cam into the LS1 along with an LS6 throttle body and your well past 300 at the wheels. This is all with stock factory parts. Going into the aftermarket field for these motors and your moving up towards bigger hp and torque numbers.

www.sdp-online.com

Its Luke Lonberger's web site, he built an LS1 powered FD rx-7 that cranked out 400+ hp and torque. His next project involves the new GM LS7 block, specs: 7.0 litre V8 510 hp 505 ftlbs torque. All this with a full long block that weighs under 500 lbs. God Bless America.
