My first autocross
Hey guys!
I'm having my first auto-cross on April 29 in Ayer, Massachusetts.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice? Techniques, things to bring, thing to look out for. I'm 17, this is my frist race, ever. Its through the SCCA, i'm really excited, but i'm extremely nervous.
I'm going to be in the novice class, and i'll probably have an instructor ride with me for at least 1 run. I'm really excited but unsure about everything. I want to place, but i'm thinking i might just take it slow and enjoy watching the other guys go fast. I don't want to get DNF or anything my first time.
Any adivce you guys have would be awesome.
Thanks

Jus go out and have fun! Honestly just make sure you respect the rules and all the more advanced drivers and theyll all be willing to help you out. As for actual driving techniques, as u make more and more passes you will learn your car better, just try to keep the runs smooth instead of jerky everywhere, that always helps for better times. Also remember NO COASTING lol, you need to be on the throttle until you hit the brakes for the turns. You will double your driving ability in that one day from all the time youve been driving the past few years.

How did the race go? Are you racing solo I or solo II? I know this is a little late, but the best advice you can take is memorize the track. You want to walk the track many times before you run, and it is also good to walk the track with experienced drivers, to hear what they have to say. There is no worse feeling then getting out there and not knowing what is coming next. And if you dont place, no worries, most of the guys out there have been racing for years and have alot of money in tires and seat time.
