Fuel Door won't open on s13

Tried searching around the internet and a few 240 forum sites, but not having much luck.

Went to get gas this morning and the fuel door wouldn't release. Is this a common problem? Is there an easy fix? Is there another way to open the door.

Have a 93 240sx.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can just pry the thing open with a screw driver or something and it shouldn't damage your paint for the meanwhile, what's most likely happened is either your cable isn't drawing enough tension to actually open the gas door (kinda like the hood cables do on BMWs after a while) so it probably just either needs to be adjusted (if that's possible) or it may need to be replaced. I'm sure that's it, because it's not electronic, it's cable driven, now it feels like, when you pull it, that the cable just draws the door open so I would check into that.

^^^ thats what i did. i just ripped the cable out and now i have a bolt that i stuff in the hole behind the wheel well to keep the door closed. Mine didn't work either; when i wanted to open it up i had to push it so hard that it felt like it was going to go through the floor.

dude look behind the door and move the spring. after that it will be an old school open and close style tank.
