Question help out the new guy...

Hey everyone. I recently picked up a white 1992 240SX SE and its a five speed coupe. Its in excellent shape, i know the old, and only, owner of it (an older lady actually) and it has around 130,000 miles on it. From all ive been reading, this is a pretty damn nice car to come by, being a coupe and a five speed. I have an extra grand or so right now to put into it and was looking for some advice on how to make the most outta my car. I have some connections with guys that can put on and paint it for cheap, but im havin trouble deciding on the best body kit for this car. I was also considering holding off on that and just gettin an exhaust, some wheels and lowerin springs instead or maybe doing an engine swap.
So if anyone has any advice on what they would do first, any good places for body kits that are for sale, or just anything that may help me out, please let me know.
THANKS ALOT!

Ok first of all welcome to the forums dude.
Bodykits that look good and not ricey are very expensive..around 1200-1800 just for the unpainted kit. If i were you id first get used to the car if u arent all ready, get to know your car and you will know what will be needed to make the car better. Suspension is always a good place to start..hell you can probably do suspension and exhaust with a grand and a lil more. So yea..welcome and have fun

welcome to the forums.

as JynX said, body work (if done right; not cheaply) will cost. plain and simple. i suppose the best way to answer ur question is w/some of my own (to get more specific about what ur looking for):

what are ur plans for the car?
a. daily driver
b. motorsports (drag, circuit, autoX, drift, etc)
c. show
d. fix up in general
e. none of the above (explain)
f. combination of the above

anything need fixing?

anything need improving?

there are a million and one ways to spend money on this car. the best thing to do prior to throwing dough at it is to find out what u wanna get out of the car and go from there. a $2500 sound system ain't gonna do jack for u if ur trying to build a 12 second car. nor would $1800 coilovers if u live in an area plagued by incliment weather (rain/snow) and never driven a RWD car before. and a $1000 body kit won't help any if ur motor is on it's last leg. u get what i'm saying, right? let us know what's up, and we can help u better!
