New 240Clubber, car questions :D

hello club240...

i was leaning towards the 300zx as a first car, but it is still a possibility. however, im looking into 240s... they seem much cheaper and easier to maintain.

i have been looking in various forums and seeing threads about how ppls car wont crank and various other problems...

if i buy a 95+ 240sx, should i expect alot of problems?

thanks

eryk

welcome. either car would be great to own. what it comes down to, in ur situation, is what u wanna do with it and what kinda budget ur working on. initially, Z's will tend to command a higher asking price (especially the 94-96, twin turbos which can cost as much as or more than a few NEW cars!). where daily driving is concerned, a Z will be a good bit more expensive to maintain. replacement parts for those puppies don't come cheap. if want a car that handles great, the 240 would be the better choice to go with (due to the Z's hefty weight). for flat-out straight line speed, it's hard to beat a nicely modded Z. now about ur question concerning 95+ 240s (a.k.a "S14"), there is a thread in the FAQ section that has that covered:

hope that helps!

If, like now many other people, are just getting into drifting, the S14 has the best neutral balance weight (From the Drift Bible). This means that the center of the weight is balanced pretty evenly. The s13 chassis has more understeer. So if you're looking into getting into drifting, I'd say go for the S14 chassis.
