Hey, I was thinking of upgrading my suspension with any graduation money I get. However, i've heard of many good companies including Tien and Tokico. Anyone know which ones are the best for grip style driving to install in my car. Any other brand names are welcome too. Also explain why, don't just say this type is better. Thanks a bunch.

 

bro, before you get flamed, do a search in the forums for "suspension" or "coilovers" etc. There's a lot of info already on these boards that could help you

I might be wrong on this (never did a super comparison) but here's how I personally rate shocks:

Stock - uh, stock
KYB GR-2s - nice, but don't go lower than 1"
Tokico HPs - better - had no problems on my old car (lowered to 2")
KYB AGX - great - adjustable, good dampening, good price IMO
Tokico Illumina - no idea
Full coilover - can't beat a set of brand name full coilovers like Tein or Apexi or Tanabe, but it'll cost you $$

If you're not hardcore, Tokico HPs (blues) and Eibach Sportlines worked really good on my old car, and the price is good too (although nowadays I'd recommend Tein S-Tech's with Tokico Blues for bang-for-the-buck).

A step up from that, I'd suggest either Tein, Whiteline, or Eibach springs with the KYB AGX's. I'm sure you've read all the talk about AGX's by now - seems everyone loves them (I do!).

From there I'd skip the "Ground Control/________ Shock" combo and just go straight to full coilovers. You can get a set of Tein Basics for under $1000 I believe. That should get you good to go for most situations.

After that, then you're like me and you end up getting Tein HE's or something
