i could be just the quality of the mic but it sounds to me like you have an exhaust leak, misfiring, and your timing its off. things that are not at all uncommon for a first start up.

kinda hard to tell from video but made sure your oil pan has no dents in it i saw you let the motor sit on the oil pan. if there is a dent take the oil pan out and bang the dent out

also if you use mobil 1 oil changes in short intervals 1000-1500 miles 2-3 times it will leave your motor spotless

it's for sure NOT an exhaust leak.... we double checked timing, and install of the CAS... we're at a loss, but it seems to be coming from the head area....

i have no idea what it is... and I'm very disappointed.... looks like if JDM online doesn't honor their warranty then it looks like i'll be using the fresh parts off the old motor (refinished head, new hardware, freshly milled, new timing chain set, clean valves, etc..) so we'll see, I'm going to wait it out and see what JDM online sez about it, they're currently dealing with this issue at their office.....

alrighty guys, problem solved with the HORRIBLE sound.... i was doing some research, starting with the fact i had ZERO oil pressure, and came to the conclusion that the oil pans dent might be the culprit... it was stated that the oil pickup is only like 1mm from the pan, so i dropped the pan and viola!!! you could see where the pickup was hitting the pan, and restricting oil flow.... so i to the pan, beat the **** out of it, and even extended the the part under the pickup out a bit, reinstalled, filled with oil and went to start.... upon start up i had the rattle, but for only 3-4 seconds, followed by what sounded like the timing chain rattle on a KA... after a few moments of run time, that went away AWESOME!!!

so now all i'm dealing with is some minor belt squeal and a leaky injector on Cyl#1, it's causing a slight misfire at idle, and a performance restriction throughout the power band i'm sure... oh yeah, and my engine overheats in like 4-5 minutes... i checked the coolant level, full.... ran it for a while with the cap off, and it wasn't moving, overflowing just a tad, but nothing like it should..... my theory on that is the motor may have sat for a while, causing the thermostat to stick, and no coolant is flowing through.... no biggie, just pull the housing off and remove it....

well, without further adieu, the start up video, short and sweet.....

few things on the "to do" list for tomorrow

diagnose overheating problem
diagnose injector prob, might just be an o-ring
install body parts.... hood, bumper, lights etc
install oil catch can
tighten belts
bleed clutch.... VERY soft.. haven't driven it yet though...
put in some dexcool.... just water in it now....
and finally, the test drive...

nice that it's running, but why bother putting everything on if your just going to tear it down in a couple days?

because if they wont let me get my license back, i want to be able to drive it a bit before it's another year and a half before i can drive again....

i have till the 9th... and after that, hardship is revoked, and I'm eligible on the 10 to reapply for one...

i just want some wheel time on it... i may just put the headlights, corners and hood on, and rock the no front bumper for a few days...
