for now it will sit in my room for a few days until the weather is better. then i'll apply a few coats of protective enamel. i don't want this beauty developing ugly and potently damaging rust spots.

good point, I like how you think.

Is it lighter steel, or aluminum?

how much does it weight? vs stock?
Do you know?
Just curious.

Like it!

it's steel and surprisingly lighter than i expected it to be. most of the weight seems to be in the yokes. it's only 15lbs and the stock ds is said to be slightly over 22lbs.

no, just driving to and from work. i think this will be the last of my additions. i might still do some grinding and honing on the upper intake manifold to increase plenum volume and call it good enough. after that i may or may not it's still in the air right now. but i'd like to get another s13 and have a ls engine swapped in.

so i finally go around to installing the ds. it makes a huge difference, i can accelerate to 5k from one gear to another smoothly. i'm still trying to figure out my a/f mixture though. i can seem to get it just right or i have a leak somewhere.

hey i know you, juan right?

welcome to my humble "build" and club240 or what ever we're called. you'll see we're not as populated as nwn but that only cuts back of the amount of bickering.

looks like i'm still not done, honestly i never planned to get this involved with this car, but here's my next step. a stanza ecu with consult capabilities, consult port, and an ecutalk cable with some diagnostic software.

i already wired the consult port to the main harness and tested it out with the stanza ecu. the hardest part of it all was finding the driver for the cheap usb to serial adapter so i could hook it up to my netbook. for those of you who don't know about ecutalk, here's screen shot i borrowed.

i am now practicing soldering and desoldering on pcbs, i plan on buying a willem programmer so i can transfer the fuel/ignition maps of the s13 eprom to the one from the stanza ecu. for now it will just be stock maps, but with time i hope to learn more about rom tuning and come up with some maps of my own.

so i got around to buying the ever so popular willem programmer.

i didn't want to buy the cable for it, so i plugged it in directly to the back of my mb.
here it is being used to read the eprom with stock settings.

i'm waiting on some sockets for the ecu so i'll post more pics and details when they arrive.

sockets finally came in, so here's the stanza ecu with and ready to go.

right now i have two eproms for this ecu, one with stock maps and what not, the other with a tune devolved by deviouska. he's fairly well known on other forums. anyways, his stage 3 na tune is said to produce 7hp with stock maf and injectors. i fired up the engine and reved it a few times to see the ecu talk software in action. it will be about a week or so before i test it out on the street though.

Dude you are the man. You are going to have loads of fun with this one. Don't adjust to far out of the load settings though, the stock maf doesn't offer alot of room to play with. If you tune with a G70 there is alot of load value to play with. Also look out on your fuel map, 270cc injectors are real easy to blow with this type of displacement. You will realize how conservative the KA engine really is on fuel for OEM. The KA loves fuel the more you give it in the higher RPM range the larger power increases you will see.
On the ecu talk you will want to watch out on the injector duty cycle. As long as you stay under 80% you are good for making as much power as you need. After 80% the injectors will start to blow, unless you find a way to increase fuel rail pressure.
