The USDM chasis should be able to hold about 350 but if you go much over that you will need to look into having you chasis strengthened. I believe that is about right since I was told I would need to rebuild my chasis if I dropped a Chevy 350 in my 240
this has to do with the fact that a Chevy 350 weighs more than Texas, not the power output. there are plenty of SR guys over 400wHP and no chassis modification is necessary.

"Chassis need to be stronger for more power"....

This isn't making any sense to me. The chassis is supposed to be as stiff as possible to support the weight of everything attached to it and let the suspension of the car do the work under race conditions, but I'm not a race engineer so what do I know about car chassis. There are 10 second 600 HP 240s which don't have chassis reinforcement...... Unless you're dropping in a heavier engine for added power.... this is sounds like old school tuning of putting in a larger engine for more power, that would require chassis work.

Those 10second 240's..well, any 10 second car has a roll cage, its the rules. Roll cages would fall into the chassis strengthing catagory.

Those are NHRA rules... doesn't have anything to do with what the 240sx chassis can handle.

Speaking of rules, there are tracks here in Texas that some of the owners are lax for exibution runs or non sanctioned event runs........

I'm thinking about going turbo with mine (i bought my '95 a month ago from car max). I only plan on using about 5lbs of boost until I can built up the bottom end. but what wold you think is better a cast manifold (smaller cheaper seem less prone to cracking) or a tubular with equal lenth runners.
