Ca18det+boost

a friend of mine just bout a 240 with a Ca18det in it but it has some sort of greddy EM in it, i think its a PRofec e-01,and it is set to 11.5psi peek is this to height? also it has a JDM gauge cluster in it so he has no idea how fast he is going and where his red line is, is there an esey way to find thies things out thanks

11.5 boost is 0k, the stock turbo should only take 15ps(give or take a lil) As for the redline, doesnt the tach have it? What do u mean he doesnt know where the redline is?

My friend had the Profec, I believe the peak hold is a safeguard. The controller won't allow the boost to go above 11.5 psi.

As for the redline, my gauges are from my clip and are in Km/H also. My tach. has a redline, yours doesn't? I find it hard to believe. You mean it doesn't even a red shaded area at all? If it does, and your firned's Profec is hooked up fine, the Profec will show you your tach. and you should be fine.

this may sound kinda evil, but it will work. if the install was done properly and the ecu has not been upgraded, there will be a rev limiter. adjust your e-01 so that the peak hold for rpm is clear. to do this push and hold the up arrow on the control unit. (i had and used the profec e-01. it is the one that has a big screen and a separate controller. when you push and hold the up arrow after about 3 seconds the peak holds will reset. push the gas pedal to the floor in neutral until it bounces off rev limiter a few times and see where the peak hold goes to. by the way i hated my e-01. it is supposed to be the best out and i thought it was a piece of $h!t. i hated that f*#king thing. very complicated and if you don't have an instruction manual to help you figure it out you are screwed. the auto mode for boost needs to "learn" how to achieve the desired setting and the manual mode requires inverse adjustment of the gain setting. that thing sux. anyway that will work.

for daily driving he should leave his boost at about 8psi to be safe and when ever you want take it up to 11 or 12 but i dont think the CA will hold one bar....

The CA is a great engine, and has held that in other peoples cars. I would say that 11 psi is no problem, of course its all about tuning, and as long as a/f remains in a good level, you should be fine.

The CA can handle boost on the same level as the SR. Its just as tough, if not tougher then the SR. And the redline from the factory is not 8500RPM tegg.....the CA has been tuned to up to 9K, but from the factory I'm sure its much lower. I wouldn't rev past 7500RPM's.
