if its pouring black smoke, that ussually means a rich mixtuere, but if it runs for 5 mins untill it warmed up then dies, there is some seal that is bad, like you apex seals, you can checkj the compression and see what you get, of if you dont have a compression tester, you can take the leading plug out and pull the EGI fuse, and listen to the noises, if all the apex seals are good, the you will hear constant psst noises, like psst..psst..psst..psst, but if one of the seals is bad then you wont have compression on 2 of the rotor fases, so you will only hear a psst, as the 3rd face comes by. so it will be like psst....................psst...................... psst, so you can do that and see what come up, if that turns up nothing got to www.rx7club.com they are alot of help there.

if I was no help sorry, but you have one of my dream cars lol, after i get out of boot camp I am soo getting one lol.

could just be flooded, pull the egi fuse and fuse for the fuel pump. pull out the 2 leading spark plugs, and crank it and see if fuel sprays out. Or if youre too lazy, hold the gas pedal all the way down and try cranking it. It also sounds like an oring on one of your injectors could have been busted or one of them got stuck open so its just dumping a ton of fuel into the engine.

also check if you have spark too, one of your coils could have gone bad

Quick fix - ditch the FD and stick to your S13. LOL! J/K. FD's are cool.
