Risk of KA24ET???

Hi all. I was wondering about the RISK of putting a TURBO on a SOHC on the 240. What a some problems it might run into? Is there a solution to that problem? What can i do to avoid this? I'm just gonna take a wild guess that maintenance is the answer for the 3rd one . Any answer/ suggestions would be great. ty.

well, if you do it wrong it'll explode.
and it's best to re-build your engine before you turbo it, so it'll be ready for higher compression, though i hear you can run up to 7psi w/o it.
An SR? you have to be joking. why would i trade a 2.4 cid engine for a 2.0-2.2 engine? they make less power AND less torque... you can't put as many psi into them either. so why would i want it? b/c it's JDM?? hells no. the guy asked for advice b/c that's what he wants to do. don' rip on his choice

It;s pretty safe if you do it right. The KA24E is very boost freindly since it has such a nice compression ratio. But I agree with Texas, rebuild your engine because if it's the E, more than likely it's gonna have a bit of miles on it. So it'd be best to build it from the bottom up and have a nice KA-T monster. Go KA!

i'm was thinking the same thing about a KA24E Turbo =P into my 89. That or swap in a 95+KA and try just get the freddy turbo kit and make it fit hahaha the only problem with that tho is i don't know if it's possible, or i mean cheaper alternative to the SR swap =P Shops today OVER CHARGE! on the front clips, and the labor for it. The cheapest i found was 4500 for the clip and swap.

Well sirikool if you are going to do the SOHC Turbo plan let me know how it comes! please! =P i'm not planning on doing anything major like that for atleast a year. So yeah i'd like to know how it comes along.

i got a t-3 turbo setup wafted under my nose for an unbeatable price, i might just have to jump on it & see how my sohc goes... i'm also thinking of doing a rare swap, so a mosdestly boosted engine & a re-programed ECU will do nicely till then i think. b/c the swap will have to wait till college is done.

Why do you want to turbo your KA24E?

Why don't you just get a KA24DE then turbo that?

Wouldn't you rebuild your engine and lower the compression not raise the compression if turbocharging is your goal?

And since when can you turn up the boost more in a KA24E than in an SR20?

E is like 8.something:1. And an E can handle more boost than the SR since it has low compression and has a bulletproof iron block.

the compression on the e is 8.6 to 1
(and i'd turbo my e b/c one of my friends wants to give me the lil turbo set-up off of an old 300zx and it wouldn't cost much to do the whole thing, as kind of a temp thing till i could switch to DE. And from what i hear the diff between DE and E isn't that great, except DE's are generally newer... and the twin cam can be more stable.)
