Unhappy sr20 smoking???

i've had my sr running for a few weeks, and i was having problems with it running rich, so there was black sooty smoke coming from my exhaust. but about a week ago it started putting off a lot of white smoke (i'm thinking it's probably burning oil) which is incredibly not good. my first thought is that the piston rings are shot, but someone said it could be from the turbo. if anyone out there (who knows what they are talking about) has any info please let me know. thanks.

have you changed the oil since it was running rich? Hella rich conditions for more than a few minutes can easily add enough fuel to the crankcase to make oil thin out and wash past rings.

How does the car actually run? Does it idle roughly? It MIGHT be the turbo, but first rule out the motor. Do a compression test. I've forgotten what your compression numbers should be on a stock SR, but it's easy enough to find out. If the number vary 10% (generally 14psi) from eachother or that original number, then it's time for a rebuild.

If the compression test comes out all good it's time to go thru hell on earth pulling the turbo out. Since our steering columns are on the opposite side of JDM cars, it's a biznitch to pull the turbo. So leave that as a last resort.

As a general rule, running even bad rich will not make you smoke like a train at idle. Especially not white smoke.. that's not good.

i did change the oil because it was full of fuel, that was the first thing i did. then i changed the o2 sensor and put in denso iridium plugs. but the oil has fuel in it again after running for a few min. just to give an idea of how rich it's running, i've driven 37 miles and gone through almost 1/2 tank of gas. today though, i was driving it for a few min and there was a loud screeching noise and it stopped accelerating, until it shut off. so i'm definately thinking check the compression and then the turbo. if anyone has any more ideas please let me know. thanks
