hey man,
Your swap is so awsome I want to do the same thing but I want to drop the s15 SR in a S13 240sx fast back and do a Sil eighty so that means a 180sx back end and a s15 front end. my question is where do I get my hands on an s15 engine, that’s the one thing I’ve been looking for and cant find where to get, other then that i found everything else i need.

but do you actually have any clue why you want an s15 engine? Your much better off going with an s13 motor and upgrading that.

You can get just as much power out of the s13 motors and with the $3000+ you save you could do some major upgrades.

If your going to spend $6000 for your motor and tranny, you might as well go with an RB26DET

BTW, if VTC is what you want, yhe s14 motor has it too.

I got the S15 for the uniqueness mostly (and the T28 changes and the 480cc FI's)...the VTC is not all its worked up to be, especially with turbo...its nothing like VTEC on a honda...in fact right now im pushing 16psi and I cant even tell when VTC kicks in...once boost starts to build (~3500) and all the way to redline...all I notice is the turbo's power pulling me ...the only time I can tell the VTC even exists, is when I turn OFF the Profec-b and run 6-7 psi...then I can feel it kick in a little bit...but if I could do it all over agin I would have gotten an S14 SR and mod it out...but I love my S15 , dont get me wrong!...I say do what you want to do, and dont listen to everyone else who tries to sway you away from that...its your car, no one else is going to drive it....do it!

VTC is bull. When top SR20 builders wanna go for high HP, they usually take out VTC. If you aren't going to do heavy mods in your car and just wanna drive around "half-way stock" then S15 motor and tranny is for you. I heard from srswap.com and heavythrottle.com that S15's 6speed tranny is weak compared to 5spd. So remember that. You can always do some tranny work to make the gears taller with OS Giken gears. But it will cost you around $1200 just for the gears. S13's SR20 has the strongest internals. Thus it is the strongest motor.

Here we go again...another uninformed, rumor-mill educated person trying to dog the S15 6-speed ...it is pretty much played out by now, man...everyone I have seen make comments about this on here or at freshalloy.com have absolutely NO experience with the tranny, and some havent even driven an SR powered vehicle either....its all about... "well my friends cousins sisters brother used to live in Japan, and he said a buddy that he knew had a brother that used to own an S15, until he wrecked it, but he said the S15 tranny was weak compared to the earlier models!" ....I HAVE driven this car and tranny and HAVE first hand experience on it...so unless these rumors started from a production errored S15 tranny that WAS weak....this RUMOR is totally FALSE...try driving one once before you speak about it as if it was fact.....(note: japan MAY have probs with this tranny because all they do is DRIFT the **** out of their cars...i dont know about you, but I do not drift and wouldnt drift because of the danger of it and the $$ involved IF and WHEN I wreck my car!)

anyways about where I purchased my swap from...I originally ordered it from www.unstable-hybrids.com ...but came to find out later that he was importing it through a guy named Karim from CAli....you can check out the classified posts at www.********** and you should be able to find a post from him...hes always selling/importing stuff....the swap came complete with engine, tranny, ecu, harness, S15 driveshaft, and rear HLSD differential from the S15 (everything needed for the swap)...

No offense condom but youve only had the tranny for a few months. Im sure you dont drive like a granny, but you prolly havent put a ton of wear and tear on it. Just a thought...

Good job on the swap, its real nice

Maybe two years from now I will get a S-14 SR and mod it. By that time I will have the knowledge of what to do and what not to do....also more info on the SR since its impossible to find a good mechanic.

Oh yea I said two years from now to be realistic...its might be sooner. However I'm going for looks, suspension and ice (i.e. sound system and alarm) before working on performance. My KA is doing freakishly well for an engine with high mileage, plus I know more on that engine...just not enough to turbo it or rebulid.

He could probably get an RB26DET, but they is a ***** to put in compared to the SR. He should just get the S-13 SR (blacktop) and mod that. Regardless of the amount he spends on the engine, it won't be as heavy as an RB. But this is just an opinion....

Well there is no big difference between the S-13 redtop and S-13 blacktop. The only difference I can point out is the valve cover (black or red) and the blacktop is newer. I just choose the blacktop because its newer, has a black valve cover and looks almost like the S-14 and S-15.

I'm just being picky on that part, either way you go its the same engine....just that one might have lesser miles.
