How many Miles?

I'm wanting to buy a 240sx so I can do a SR20DET swap. There is a pretty cheap 240 for sell near where I live but it has 188,000 miles on it. Is that a lot or too much? I don't want to spend all this money on a new engine just to have something in the transmission go out. The seller also said he has LSD, rotors, calipers, spindles from a twin-turbo 300 ZX that he'll sell with it. Are any of those worth putting on or should I just buy performance parts if I want to upgrade any of those.

If your just getting it to swap then as long as the chasis is straight and clean you shouldn't have any problems. When swapping you won't keep the KA transmission.

Do most engines come with the transmission? All the articles I read about SR20DET swaps always just talked about the engine.

Also what about the LSD, rotors, calipers, spindles from a twin-turbo 300 ZX he'd said he'd sell?

Most come with the tranny, I've never really seen too many that don't come with the transmissiion. Either way, get a motorset with transmission or get a front clip with everything you need. Take the stuff from the 300zx too.

After reading this guide I've gotten a better idea of the engine swap. I guess I just need to search more on this site.

Those of you who didn't do the swap yourself how much did you pay for them to do the swap? Is there an average amout?

Most shops around here quote about $1500 for the swap, thats everything even wiring. Don't know what the rates are near you.

as long as there isnt any rust or frame damage... engine mileage wont matter. Pick up the 300zx stuff too
