The reason I like the SR is because it completes the whole package for this car. It's light, 4 independant susp, and RWD. It will stop, go good, and HANDLE good. I like the RB as much as the SR but I also compete solo-2 and I don't like having a 190 extra pounds in the front of the car. I noticed a increase in response moving the battery to the trunk! I'm not ditching on anyones RB swap it's just you need to choose the engine swap for what you want to do with the car. I've shipped RB and SR engine/trans, and the weight was SR20DET 5sp=510#'s on pallet, RB25DET 5sp 695#'s on a pallet.

I was just wondering it the RB engine are street legal. The only place that would have them, I would think, street legal would be Motorex.

Its ok I did look at the sticky. I was just wondering because my 240 has a S-14 Black top and it was deemed street legal by Motorex, who did the swap and Smoged it. That was the only reason I was asking

yeah, i'm w/JynX here. unless they've got paperwork from the DOT, NHTSB, and/or EPA which backs this up, i'm gonna be skeptical about this.

The RB20 and the RB25 have near the same weight sorry. I've shipped them both and we weigh the swaps to get proper shipping. Obviously you can get them down, tubular mani, and ditch all the accesories. Even the magazines say why bother with the RB20 when you can have another 1/2 liter and the same weight? If I get another RB20 thats loose I will do a photo'd weigh in and end this once and for all.

THE MAGAZINES ARE ****ING RETARDED AND I HAVE PERSONALLY WEIGHED MY RB20DET COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED. IT IS 65LBS MORE THAN THE KA24E WHICH IS 5LBS MORE THAN THE SR. YOU CAN GO RIGHT AHEAD ON THE WEIGHT.... BE CAUSE I HAVE SEEN MINE ON A SCALE. MY FRIEND WEIGHED HIS IN AT THE SAME WEIGHT AS MINE. OHH AND THE RB25DET TRAN WEIGHS OVER 75LBS MORE THAN THE RB20 RR71C TRANNY.

OHH IF YOUW ANT TO GET INTO THE RB20 VS SR20 SEMANTICS I HAVE ARGUED IT NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE AND WILL DO SO AGAIN IF YOU SO CHOOSE.

What did you do for wiring on your RB? The other advantage about the SR swap is it's ease in install and wiring, and popularity even locally where I live. I'm also curious if you have any problems with the Rb ripping up the tranny being it's not the big one?

WIRING WAS LIKE 10 WIRES AND I GOT A FULL GAUGE CLUSTER WORKING. I WIRED A DIRECT FUEL PUMP WIRE, TACH LEAD TO CLUSTER, WATER TEMP LEAD TO CLUSTER, USED THE KA SPEED SENSOR, I LEFT THE KA LOWER HARNESS ON AND SPLICED IN THE RB STARTER AND ALTERNATOR PLUGS IN, AND THEN THERE WERE A FEW WIRES I HAD TO MODIFY TO GET THE ENIGNE TO TURNOVER.

I DON'T HAVE ANY PROLEMS WITH MY TRANNY AS OF YET BUT I HAVEN'T PUSHED BIG POWER YET. I KNOW A GUY WHO RAN THE STOCK TRANNY WITH 500+ RWHP AND IT HELD UP. IF YOU BREAK THE TRANNY YOU CAN REBUILD IT WITH KA OR SR PARTS.
