Unhappy 240 is dying

It's been a blast! 2 years of awesome drifting, racing, and the occasional slam into the curb or what not. But now it's time to say goodbye. If any of you guys remember my last thread, "carbon deposits" you would know that my 240 is on its last leg....well I would say last toe. I've been having trouble with the KA for the past few weeks, and decided that it would be much wiser to get a different car instead of spending $1300 to get the engine rebuilt. I'm pretty upset about it. You guys know that no matter what is wrong with the 240, we will continue to love it. I'm not looking forward to getting rid of it, but I have to, need to cut my losses now.
After looking around for a while, my girlfriend suggested her sisters car. It's a 99 Eclipse GS with 41000 miles. It's been sitting in her front yard for 6 months now. She never got insurance on it and was too scared to drive it. So now she wants to get rid of it for $3000! What a steal! There is nothing wrong with the car, has no dents, no dings. The only thing I'm worried about is that the gas has been dormant for a loooong time. What do I need to do, and what do I need to look for when I try to get this car up and running again.
Obviously I need to get the old gas out. But what about inside the engine?
Just wanted to see what the good ole 240 guys say. Gimme some info fellas.

I wouldnt really worry about the gas, if it had been a couple years or something I would, but in general 6 months is not going to change anything enough to lose sleep over. Just drive it to the nearest shell and fill er up! Sorry to hear about the 240

gawd mang......
gona give up a 240 for a eclipse...tsk tsk tsk....
should invest in a rebuild kit for $350.
every thing u need .stock pistons and rods and gaskets and works.

take apart your engine and commence E.R. surgery....

1st check compression.(free rental at pepboys or autozone)
if compression isnt near 9.5-1 and is below 8..u need a rebuild.

if rebuild is needed cherry pick your engine out. cherry pick can be a free rental ant your local pepboys and autozone.
take apart engine and check every thing. check bearings and your cylinder wall.
if all looks well measure with micometer the cylinder walls.
usually 100k+ ka24 motors are good here. no significant wear do to nissan engineering. just hone and slap all the new peaces to gether.
its a bit more complicated but all together a good week with wrenching and your car should run and drive good again.

invest in good parts for bottom end. heehee
