Motorex.net will send out the vehicle to have the work done on it to pass all the EPA standards. It's done on a car by car basis, no blanket procedure can be done.
I own a 1989 240sx and realllly want to get the RB25DET in there. Problem is, it would not pass california emissions. And if I wanted to, I could dump the car on the EPA's lab and they'll hit me with a bill making it 100% smog legal. Mckinney motorsports quoted anywhere from $3,000 to 20,000 to get that taken care of.
Ouch.

my friend/emissions inspector rick from my old job could probably do it for a 100 dollar handshake. He really likes 240sxes, he has his own project if anyone has read my thread i placed when he tried to sell me his. When he sees a rb, he will be like...wow awesome, most likely abuse it on the emissions dyno ..jk lol
hes a pretty chill corrupted emissions guy, so dont hestitate to pursuade his easy mind with money.
Gainsville goodyear in manassas,va right off 29

i talked a cop in jersey who knows his stuff about cars, in jersey your not supposed to put an older engine in a car that is newer than the engine. but there is a way to legally do it, he said its the bgigest pain in the ***...he put a chevy 350 in an rx7 2nd gen. i asked him about the rb20/sr20 swap. he told me there is no underhood inspection in nj. but would they do is put a tester on the hood that reads the sparks. since the sr20 if 4 cylinder it would have no reason to believe it wasnt the stock motor. however with the rb20, the 6 cylinders will clearly show up and alert the tester that it is a different engine. thats just NJ tho.
