Ok, so my car is overheating, but only once I kill it. Its stays at normal running temp when on, so i know my radiator and water pump are working, but once i kill the engine, she gets super hot, my guage is almost pegged, causing my car to not want to start until it cools down completely. Does anyone know what could cause this to happen? Anything is greatly appreciated.

 

eh...not sure. some one else should know. check your anti-freeze? haha.

I posted a thread with asking why i wouldn't start. I know now why it won't start, but now i ned to know whats causing it to heat up so much. I did a radiator flush and refilled it, checked the levels, all is good, just getting wicked hot after i kill it

 

Blown head gasket?? My friend has a CO tester to see if exhaust gasses are getting into the coolant system.

 

or bad water pump or stuck closed thermostat.

seriously dude if you dont know the simplest of things like this then you shouldnt be touching your car go learn and research first

It could be a bad temperature sensor.
