A/C Not Working

My AC stopped working. I will most likely send it to a shop, but just wondering what should be the first things I should go through, just in case it might be an easy fix.

Here's what went on first.....the AC hasn't been as cold over the last year. The light on the control panel would flicker intermittently. Not sure if that meant anything, but now its just not lighting up. When I turn on the AC, the RPM's no longer increase. Thus, I'm thinking the motor is out.

What do you guys think. It's a 1990 model.

your freon probably leaked out or your commpressor clutch is out.
if its your freon, replace the shraeder valves (1 high side 1 low side) then refill freon.
