Clutch fan noise
Clutch fan noise
When my car warms up I start hearing a rattleling by the clutch fan. I started moving it around cuz I wanted to see if it was hitting the fan shroud which it is. I also noticed it can move a lil bit foward to back. Like its wobblely. How do I tighten it up to make it stiff again. Should be easy, just wanted opinions b4 I get in there.
na.... make sure it is just the fan clutch that is moving and not the whole waterpump pulley... if it is just the fan clutch then swing down to the local parts store and get a new one, easy to put on.... just take off the 4 nuts on the water pump pulley and then seperate the fan from the clutch.... reverse procedure for install of new one.....
if the whole pulley and everything is moving, then the waterpump bearings are shot... i.e. new water pump
thanks,

Agree. Clutch fans suck. Electric slim is the way to go. Much more efficient. I have known people in Japan that had a switch to turn their fan on. You can control the temp. Make sure you have a good temp guage. Cooler engine, longer life.
here's an idea for now. for a quick temporary fix, there is an electric fan just in front of you clutch fan. you can pull out your clutch fan, and splice that electric fan into the ignition wire in the harness just in front of the valve cover. dont want to sieze that clutch fan and don't want it to break off and smash into your radiator. just run positive into igniton wire, and neg to the neg. terminal on your battery. believe it or not, i dont' care what anybody says, that fan it big enough to keep your car kool. my friend did it on his, and mine is temporairly hooked up that way.. just another option for you to use
