I diddn't even notice that abuot 5 in. was missing.

I think that a little over-kill though. Too much is bad.

S13 is right. I cit it all the way and left enough plastic for the clamps to hold the filter in place. The car sounds great at WOT and well, my gas mileage and power have increased slightly. I hit 125hp and 130 ft-lbs at the wheels when I went on the Mustang Dyno. And this is on a stock KA running 87 Arco gas. And no, I don;t think it was overkill.

Artic copied me. LMAO

Here's mine... if you cut it a different way it's stealth... With Artic's, any tech guy can reach under or look at it at the right angle and they will see that it's cut out (some smog places fail you for visual)... my version is stealth =P

BTW that lower box isn't that much of a restrictor - it's a resonator to quiet down the intake noise on full throttle. Look at the Y pipe - the path air takes from outside to the air filter doesn't have any super choke point on that resonator box.

And I'm just busting ***** on Artic about his post

I have 97 and I think its a sensor or not but on the y-looking pipe that connects to the resanator there a wire with a sensor that goes in the pipe.I took in out and the car idled fine but i dunno about losing power or gas miles. If i do take out the pipe where would i put the wire and sensor.

probably the IAT sensor... it has a purpose, if we're talking about the same thing...
